I analysed 3,000 multidisciplinary sources to conceptualise allyship practices for helping conversations. This research has been published in the International Journal of Evidence-Based Coaching and Mentoring and presented at several coaching and coaching supervision conferences. Since then, I have presented workshops and training to coaches on allyship-informed coaching.
Following my research, I intend to support the competence and confidence of coaches, mentors, supervisors, and other helping professionals to work with marginalised communities and use their influences to challenge systemic oppression.
Introduction to Allyship-Informed Coaching
Designed for practitioners and communities, this workshop introduces the key concepts of social change, allyship, and systems of oppression. Together, we will demystify the jargon around social identities, explore experiences outside our own, and identify practices that are safer and more inclusive. The session can include communications and marketing, contracting, the coaching environment, language, disclosures, and relational knowing.
These sessions can be booked for membership organisations, communities, and organisations with internal coaches or mentors. For individual practitioners, please contact me for updates on upcoming workshops.
Coaching for Allyship Practices
I provide one-to-one coaching for allyship for coaches, mentors, supervisors, and other helping professionals looking to deepen their understanding and looking for high support and accountability. In a coaching environment, we will use this space to explore who you are, understand where you have power and privilege, and venture into your hermeneutical darkness – the things you don’t know that you don’t know.
It can feel overwhelming to get started on this journey; know that you don’t have to do it alone. Find out more about my coaching approach with this link.
